Experts Predict a Cycling Boom for English Tourism Week

Staycations are certainly here to stay in 2021 as there is continued uncertainty about foreign travel, and experts predict a cycling boom as we approach English Tourism Week from 22nd – 31st May.

Over the past 12 months, this has been one mode of transport that has seen a rise in popularity and that will be a welcome boost for English tourism as demand for cycling holidays is on the increase.

Chris Smith from British bike rack manufacturer, Pendle Bike Racks, said: “A healthy and enjoyable way to avoid traffic jams and make the most of the great outdoors, cycling is an excellent way to explore the UK’s beauty spots and what better way to celebrate English Tourism Week.

“We are seeing demand soar as people embark on their next adventure with many staycationers using bike racks to transport their two and three-wheeled charges to their location of choice and which of course gives them the added advantage of having their own bikes or trikes with them to explore during their holiday.”

From the tip of the Scottish Coast to Lands’ End in the rugged South West, Britain’s cycleways are some of the best in the world.

To get the most out of your staycation, Pendle Bike Racks takes a look at some of the UK’s finest cycle paths and offers tips on how to get kitted out for a cycling holiday to remember.

  • Rack it up – Bicycle roof racks aren’t just for the super fit, but loading a bike onto the roof of a vehicle does demand a degree of upper body strength. Towbar bike racks and trailers are the user-friendly options for amateur bikers. From hang on bike racks to wheel support configurations and trailers, there is a solution for everyone. • Weather check – Britain’s weather is unpredictable and being soggy and uncomfortable can make any bike ride miserable. Be sure to check the weather, pack a flask and waterproofs and time your journey between rainy intervals.
  • Trike popularity – Three wheels can be better than two! Lockdown has encouraged people of all ages and ability levels to take to pedal power. Pendle Bike Racks has seen sales of Trike Bike Racks triple in lockdown, meaning that many people are enjoying the stability of three wheels and the freedom that it offers to people of all abilities.
